On December 12, 2008, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) adopted the Truck and Bus regulation and the Heavy-Duty Diesel Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction regulation to significantly reduce emissions from existing on-road diesel vehicles operating in California. The regulation requires affected trucks and buses to meet performance requirements between 2011 and 2023. In order to ensure the successful implementation of the regulations the CARB staff has formed the Truck Regulation Advisory Committee (TRAC). The mission of the TRAC committee is to help shape the outreach, training, and implementation strategies and materials, and help CARB be more aware of the needs and opinions of affected stakeholders such as Mountain Valley Express.

Dan Souza, Vice President of Maintenance and Environmental Affairs for Mountain Valley Express, has been accepted as a member of the TRAC Greenhouse Gas, and Reporting subcommittees. As a member of these committees, Mr. Souza will attend quarterly meetings to discuss and provide ideas on ways of reaching and assisting affected fleets, review training presentations, fact sheets, and reporting and compliance planning tools developed by CARB.

Dan Souza has remained diligently involved in all issues regarding CARB regulations and is not only a voice for Mountain Valley Express, but for the transportation industry as a whole.

The first TRAC meeting will be held from 10 am to 4 pm on September 1, 2009.
