Mountain Valley Express Company History

1976 Founded by Charles L. Giles in Manteca, California, with one small truck, one major customer - Dana Corp.

1980 Moved to new corporate headquarters and terminal in Manteca, CA.

1983 Scott Blevins joined the Company as Director of Maintenance.

1988 Opened terminal in Montebello, to serve Southern California market. Dick McIntosh and Don Smith were hired for Traffic and Operations.

1991 Our fleet Safety Program took second place in California Trucking Association Fleet Safety Awards and logged one million accident free miles. Established a long term relationship with New United Motor Manufacturing (NUMMI), a joint venture of General Motors and Toyota. Just-in-time (JIT) is the basis for this program operating with a dedicated fleet that initially started with 4 routes.

1992 Once again took second place in CTA Fleet Safety.

1993 Computer system upgraded to IBM AS400. Achieved first place in CTA Fleet Safety.

1995 Moved into new corporate facility and terminal in Manteca. First place awarded in CTA Fleet Safety.

1996 Moved Southern California terminal to a larger facility in Paramount. First place awarded in CTA Fleet Safety.

1997 Opened Visalia terminal to enhance service in the California Central Valley. Second place awarded in CTA Fleet Safety.

1998 Scott Blevins promoted to Vice President - Director of Maintenance. First Place awarded in CTA Fleet Safety.

1999 NUMMI operations hit all time high of 26 dedicated routes running 24 hours per day. Another First Place Award in CTA Fleet Safety.

2001 25th year of PREMIER SERVICE to our customers. First Place awarded in CTA Fleet Safety. Mountain Valley Express was selected for the Supplier Customer Excellence Award presented by Pelco.

2003 President and Founder Charlie Giles passed away. Scott Blevins assumed the position of President. Honored with the California Trucking Association Award, Charlie Giles Fleet Safety Award. We expanded our direct overnight service into the Gilroy / Salinas area and into the Lancaster / Palmdale areas.

2004 We expanded our service to the Pacific Northwest, through a partnering agreement with Priority Freight Lines. Opened a second Manteca Terminal for our NUMMI dedicated freight service. Opened terminal in Santa Maria, CA to serve Central Coast.

2005 Expanded service to our customers in Northern California with direct service to points north of Sacramento. Opened terminal in Reno, NV. First place awarded in CTA Fleet Safety.

2006 Opened terminal in Chino, CA to enhance service in the Inland Empire area of Southern California.

2008 New terminal opened in Las Vegas, NV to enhance service in the Inland Empire area of Southern California.

2009 Opened terminal in Phoenix, AZ as a growing market and a major connection point. Mountain Valley opens a new 38 door service center in Visalia, CA.

2010 Mountain Valley Express joins The Reliance Network. Aligned with Peninsula Truck Lines for service to and from the Pacific Northwest and Idaho
